One Hundred Posts Later: Why I Decided One Day to Explain AI to Everyone (and Why I Owe You My Thanks)

This week, I’m not going to talk to you about a new model, or a benchmark, or the latest ad that promises to change everything (there are plenty of those). This time, I feel like doing something different. Taking a moment to pause, look back, and tell you why I’m here writing this.

The thing is, this is my 100th post. One hundred. And along the way, on my YouTube channel, we’ve grown from just a handful of people to more than 10,000 subscribers, and this blog gets more visits every month. So let me get a little personal today, because I think I owe it to you.

Where did all this come from?

Created with AI using Gemini

The story doesn’t start with AI—it starts with a book. A while back, I started writing “Sell More in Seven Steps: A Survival Guide in a Technological World, ” with a very specific idea in mind: to make small and medium-sized businesses aware that technology and inbound marketing were no longer optional. For me, it was important to spread the word that the world was changing and that anyone who didn’t jump on the train would be left on the platform watching it pass by.

Writing that book was what reignited my desire to share my knowledge. It was the catalyst for reviving my blog almost by accident, because I realized I had things to say and that staying silent wasn’t helping anyone. At first, that’s what it was all about: technology, business, SMEs, tools. Things I saw every day with my clients and wanted to make available to anyone who ran a business but had little time to wrestle with manuals.

And then, just when I had the track all set up, ChatGPT showed up.

The Tsunami No One Saw Coming

I’ll say it exactly as I think it: what came with the large language models wasn’t just another new development. It was a turning point. And from the very first moment, I had a feeling—one that hasn’t left me since—that this was going to sweep over us like a tsunami and that the public wasn’t being adequately prepared.

That feeling gave me a goal much bigger than the book itself. It was no longer just about helping an SME sell more. It was about helping people understand what was coming their way, before they ran into it head-on. Because it’s one thing for a wave to come, but it’s quite another to be caught off guard, staring at your phone.

I started talking about all of this—where things were headed, what it really meant for work, for companies, and for each of us. I talked about Europe’s first AI law back when almost no one was discussing it. Some of the videos were watched by four people (well, my family and three others), but I didn’t care. I was convinced that this story needed to be told.

From a chat conversation to an army of agents

If there’s one thing that has fascinated me over the past two-plus years, it’s the speed of it all. Right before our very eyes, AI has gone from being a simple chat conversation to something much bigger.

Do you remember when it was amazing just to talk to an AI and have it respond somewhat well? That seemed like magic to us. Well, from there we moved on to agents—those systems that don’t just respond anymore, but actually perform tasks for you. I wrote about this when OpenAI introduced Operator and the five levels of agents, and I’ll admit that’s when a light bulb went off in my head.

And from agents, we’ve moved on to networks of autonomous agents—agents who communicate with other agents and organize among themselves to get the job done. (Yes, agents coordinating without anyone telling them how. Here I explained the protocol that makes it possible.) This isn’t science fiction anymore; it’s my day-to-day reality. In fact, a few weeks ago I told you that I left one agent on its own, and one Saturday it made a decision all by itself. If you’d told me that the day I recorded the chat video… I wouldn’t have believed it.

My obsession (so that everyone understands this)

There’s one thing I’d like to emphasize, because to me, that’s what gives meaning to the entire project. And that is my dedication—almost an obsession—to making this very complex world accessible to everyone.

AI is full of acronyms, research papers, “buzzwords,” and really smart people talking to each other in a language that no one on the outside understands—and sometimes there’s a lot of “hot air.” And what I wanted (and still want) is to translate all that. I want my brother-in-law—who’s never written a single line of code in his life—to understand why something as boring as a protocol called MCP is actually the “USB-C” of AI. I want anyone to be able to feed their own documents into an AI using a RAG without feeling silly for asking.

Because I truly believe that the greatest risk isn’t the technology itself, but the gap between those who understand it and those who don’t. And if these 100 videos have helped even a few of you bridge that gap, then every Sunday spent filming has been worth it.

For those of you who are still here

And now I’ve gotten to the part I really wanted to write about today.

When I first started, it was like talking to thin air. I’d record, upload, and only a handful of people would watch. To be honest, my first videos leave a lot to be desired (if you dig through the channel, you’ll find them—I haven’t deleted them; they’re part of the journey). But little by little, you all started showing up. I remember my first video, “Web3, the New Frontier of the Internet,” and how nervous I was to film with a camera in front of me. If you haven’t tried it, I recommend it: it’s scarier than it looks, especially at first.

Some topics resonated much more than I ever imagined, like the one where I told you that we can now talk to anyone in the world without knowing any languages, which got close to 65,000 views, or the one about humanoid robots that are no longer just science fiction, which got around 17,000. Not bad for a channel that started with just three brave souls.

Even recently, I’ve had to resort to using my avatar because I just couldn’t find the time…

But I’m not thanking you for the numbers—I’m thanking you for sticking around. For commenting, for correcting me when I mess up (which happens), for writing to tell me that a video helped you understand something or make a decision in your business. Ten thousand subscribers aren’t just a vanity metric to post on LinkedIn. There are ten thousand people who one day decided I was worth listening to, and that, honestly, still blows my mind.

So thank you! To those from the first video, to those of you who joined us along the way, and to those of you who joined us just this week. To all of you.

So what now?

Well, let’s keep going. With the same idea I started with, but with more people by my side. The wave has only gotten bigger, and I’m afraid the best (and craziest) is yet to come. I’ll still be here, trying to explain it to you in a way that makes sense, without unnecessary acronyms and, above all, without any smoke and mirrors.

Before I sign off, there’s one question I’d really like to ask you: out of these 100 videos, which one was your favorite? Which one helped you understand something you didn’t get before, or changed your mind about AI? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to read your thoughts, and it’ll give me some ideas for the next hundred videos.

Have a good week!
